Viewing blog post - Welcome to DFL Senate District 46
Educational Forum on Immigration Saturday, July 17 - Noon to 2 p.m.
CWA Hall, 3521 East Lake Street, Minneapolis
Panelists Javier Morillo - President of SEIU Local 26, which unites over 5,100 janitors, security guards, and window cleaners. Morillo is an appointee of Mayor Chris Coleman to the St. Paul Human Rights Commission. and of Mayor R.T. Rybak to the Minneapolis Private Industry Workforce Council. He taught anthropology and history at Carleton College and at Macalester College.
Arizona’s law pushed the immigration debate to center stage, and it will be a hot topic during this election. What do I need to know to respond to voters misinformed about immigration? How can I address the the value of immigrants to our society and economy? Immigration is a big wedge issue. How can fellow DFLers and progressives, explain the issue effectively? The Forum is intended to equip activists, advocates, and volunteers with enough knowledge to talk with voters about how the issue affects us in Minnesota.
